BREAKING NEWS!!! PHN COMMISSIONERS DROP THE HAMMER!!! BIG TRADES

OFFICIAL PHN PRESS RELEASE – February 8, 2026

Dear PHN Captains,

First, thank you all for your patience as we continue to navigate recent goaltending and player availability

challenges. Recent player injuries have only added to the complexity. With an unusually high number of

player pairings this season—necessary to field six teams—even simple roster adjustments to maintain

balance and address our goaltending needs have been challenging.

I’d also like to sincerely thank the members of the Ranking Committee for the time, effort, and thoughtful

input you’ve provided throughout our initial rankings and re-ranking meetings. Your perspectives are a vital

part of our league’s structure and culture, and they play a key role in keeping the PHN competitive, fair, and

balanced.

A special thank-you as well to the players involved in these moves for their willingness to participate in the

best interest of the league. Trades are an important part of the PHN and one of the elements that sets us

apart from other recreational hockey leagues in the city, offering an experience closer to that of a

professional league. Over time, this approach strengthens the fabric of our league by allowing members to

play with—and get to know—a large portion of the PHN community. We believe this familiarity fosters mutual

respect, camaraderie, and ultimately a safer environment on the ice.

While we generally prefer not to make changes this late in the season, after careful consideration of many

factors, the league believes the following moves will have the least possible impact on individual players and

on the team chemistry that has developed so far.

The following trades will take effect immediately and will apply to games scheduled for Monday, February 9,

2026:

1. The North Stars are pleased to announce the signing of free-agent goaltender Mike Fini.

2. Longest active serving PHN member Peter Tsang has been acquired by the North Stars

3. Mathew Morelli has been acquired by the Seals for his goaltending services.

4. Gerry Iuliano and Adam Iuliano have been acquired by the Capitals.

5. Chris Majien and the Capitals have agreed to a contract extension, keeping Chris with the Caps to

help fill in for Jerry Paglia following his recent lower-body injury. The Capitals wish Jerry a speedy

recovery.

6. Reno Lacaria has been acquired by the Bombers.

7. Bradyn Martyn has been acquired by the Nordiques.

Thank you again to everyone involved and to all the players in the league. As the PHN prepares to enter its

22nd year, we are reminded that this milestone would not be possible without our dedicated membership

and the volunteers who help make our league one of the best recreational hockey leagues out there.

Thank you all,

Best wishes from the PHN Commissioners
