Eric Gold… PHN FASHION ICON!

The Paris runways, the tailor shops of Milan, and the trends of New York, the fashion community is centered in all these places.  The likes of Dior, Gucci, Prada, and Armani have ruled the choices of celebrities and the rich and famous for decades…..

But now, a newcomer to the fashion scene is making waves, upsetting the foundations of fashion that have existed for decades….

His name is ………. ERIC GOLD!

Eric’s story goes way back.  For those that think he just became a guy who is heavy into fashion, no, it has been years in the making.  Eric would grow up in the mean streets of Thornhill, where he was always teased for running home to watch Fashion Television, otherwise known to those in the know as FT.  Eric would idolize the the way Jeanne Bekker would interview the fashion icons, and think to himself that one day, maybe, JUST MAYBE, he would apprentice on the show.

Eric was pulled may different ways in life.  Playing hockey for the esteemed Vaughan Rangers, Eric had a successful minor hockey career.  It was at this time, Eric really took to a fashion trend, that he would carry with him through the years and even to this very day.

Eric Gold, the Red Years

Eric Gold pant choice
The Blue Pants never had a chance!

What surely will be known as his RED YEARS, Eric has has had a fascination with the colour since earning a pair of Ranger inspired hockey pants.  Former teammates of his told us that Eric would wear red underwear as well, as he just would always take it one step further.

Today, in the PHN, Eric is well known for his pants.  Commonly referred to as “Red Pants”, he is ridiculed on and off the ice.  The PHN has put in sensitivity training for all their members, to help everyone understand that the colour of one’s pants doesn’t make someone lead a certain life.

Eric lives by this saying

“Look, we here at the PHN are always open to everyone.  We all come together for a common goal, the love of the game.  Whether you have black pants, blue pants, or, well do they even make other colours? Well that is not the point, but really, if you want to wear red pants and play in our league, why not? You should not be ostracized because of it!”, PHN Commissioner Godfather was quoted as saying.

Teammates have also been quick to come to Eric’s defense, and some not so quick. Several making comments unfit to print, however, one brave soul defended the choice.  “I love his red pants! I mean, how else are you going to see that cherry picker at the other blue line?  Imagine he chose the blue pants? How would I know where to take a clapper and hit him with a breakaway pass if he camouflaged himself!  He certainly doesn’t hang out by centre ice, which would be an issue, so we are lucky he chose what he did!” said K-Dawg.

Gold's Awesome SOcks
Socks truly fit for a pro!

Recently, Eric even bucked the red trend, trying to show he could get with the times, and purchased a blue pair of gloves.  Not just any blue, but one that you can clearly see from a mile away.  Never one to shy away, Eric proudly wore them this past week and received rave reviews from the folks at Hockey Fashion Trends with a rare 8.3 out of 10 rating!

But true to his roots, Eric was recently shopping for new skates, and he couldn’t buck the trend.  Famous for his multi-colour Air Jordans, and his red soled LeBoutins that he wears in private, Eric recently was seen trying on, to no one’s surprise, RED SKATES!  Caught here in a spy photo by the Hockey Fashion Trends paparazzi, Eric is seen wearing a new pair of red themed skates.  Even more impressive, is his phenomenal choice in socks, which clearly has put him in the top ten of hockey fashionistas for this year.  Some would say Henrik Lundqvist is going to be dethroned as the fashion icon of the hockey world given what Eric is bringing to the dressing room these days!

In the coming weeks and months, we look forward to doing a sit down interview with Eric, and really understanding how the colour Red has influenced him not just on the ice, but in the other aspects of his life.  One thing is for sure, Eric is a trendsetter, and you can’t help but appreciate his confidence and determination to buck the fashion trends of the world of hockey!
