LAST GAME OF THE SEASON!!!

We enter into the last game of the season with all teams able to move around in playoff position!!!!  This should be an exciting night as teams vie for who they will play against come the first round.  (Unfortunately last week was cancelled due to a power failure in the Vaughan area and we are unable to make up the game due to the tight time constraints of the summer season) 

First, a reminder of the regular season tie-breakers so everyone is aware:

1. PTS
2. WINS
3. H2H (only applicable if 2 teams are tied)
4. Lowest GA
5. Lowest PIMS
6. GF, flip a coin!

As any tie would have the teams tied in WINS, the next tie-breaker is H2H, so here is the breakdown of the regular season:

For first place, the North Stars and the Godfathers tied their only match against each other 5-5 on June 6.  So if they end up tied, the next tie breaker will be LOWEST GA which the North Stars will win handily.

SO: Congrats to the North Stars on winning the PHN Summer 2016 Commissioner’s Cup!!

Then we have the Mustangs, Bombers and Oil who can all tie.  We break it down for you team by team!

BOMBERS

A Bombers loss could result in 3 scenarios:

1. Best finish would be 4th place
2. A tie against The Oil in pts would go to H2H in which they have the season series 1-0.
3. A tie against the Chiefs would mean they lost the season series to them with a tie and 2 losses, so the Chiefs would advance over them.
4. A 3 way tie against the Chiefs and The Oil would result in GA, in which most likely The Oil would win that.

A Bombers tie could result in 2 scenarios:

1. If the Mustangs LOSE their game, they tie in points, but would lose the tie-breaker for WINS.
2. If the Mustangs WIN their game, they finish 4th unless they tie with The Oil, in which case, they lose the tie-breaker for WINS.

A Bombers WIN could result in 2 scenarios:

1. Mustangs lose and they claim 3rd place
2. Mustangs tie, and they go to H2H in which they tied the regular season with a win each, so GA in which the Mustangs would almost certainly win, resulting in a 4th place finish.

2. If the Bombers tie The Oil, GA is the tie-breaker, and most likely that would go to The Oil!

THE OIL

H2H record vs. relevant teams:

Mustangs: one win, one loss, tie-breaker goes to GA, with the Mustangs having a 4 goal edge.

Bombers: one loss, therefore the tie goes to the Bombers.

Chiefs: Chiefs would have one less win (2 vs. 3) so tie goes to The Oil.

CHIEFS

H2H record vs. relevant teams:

Bombers: One tie, one win and they play each other.  If the Chiefs win, they would then win the season series and win the tie-breaker.

The Oil: 2 losses to The Oil so they would lose the tie-breaker but also lose in WINS.
