Masks, march break travel and lost games

Hello PHN’ers

This is an important notice about:

– playoffs and three games lost to shut down
– masks
– March Break Travel

PLAYOFFS and LOST GAMES

We’re working out the details of the three lost games with the rink early this week.

Once we have that sorted out we’ll adjust our schedule and let everyone know ASAP.

MASKS

As you know the province is relaxing most remaining public health orders on Monday.

The PHN has made the decision to maintain our dressing room N-95 style mask mandate until further notice and quite likely the end of the season.

This policy is in line with what many universities in the province are doing to protect their students, as well as private schools.

The dressing rooms are small and poorly ventilated.
With guys in close quarters and chatting we want to keep people safe, especially as we go into the playoffs.

An infection within a team but would be a huge disruption for the league, not to mention the lives of players affected

The Omicron sub variant BA-2 is 30 percent more transmissible than omicron.
This makes masking even more important.

The league and all captains agree this is the way to go.

We’re encouraged by how respectful and considerate our players have been to date.

Please continue to mask up before coming into the rink and ask your team captain for a N-95 mask if you do not have one.

The league and every captain has agreed that players who refuse to follow our dressing room mask rule will be suspended.

As everyone in the PHN knows we take safety seriously.

We’re approaching masking as a safety rule that is in keeping with our zero tolerance for violent acts on the ice.

It’s about safety and respect for your fellow players. And their families.
We have extended households and parents with kids under 5 years old in our league.

They all deserve our protection.

We encourage anyone who has not had a booster shot to get one ASAP.

MARCH BREAK TRAVEL

If you travelled on March break, think really hard about whether you should come to the rink Monday.
If you have any concerns – stay home or rapid test.

This season, we’ve had players take themselves out because of exposures at work, or through their kids, or because they had COVID.
That’s great, that’s the right thing to do.

We’ve also had guys take themselves out of a game because they travelled and were concerned about their COVID risk.

Earlier this season Anthony Talotta skipped a game after a trip to Vegas – which proved wise because he got COVID on that vacation!
He protected his fellow PHN’ers. THANK YOU ANTHONY!

Jerry Paglia sat out 2 games because of travel and is skipping this week because he’s coming back from Florida on Monday.
Another great example. THANK YOU JERRY

If you went somewhere – even a bog party in Toronto and think you could be at risk don’t come to the rink.

THANK YOU

From Morgan, James and all team Captains.
