Oilers reject new recruit, make some changes

Let’s face it, aside from the North Stars winning the Championship trophy for a 3rd time, the real story of the season that just ended was the Oilers.

The Oilers started a winning tradition, one that phenomenal.  They crushed it all year, and in the playoffs.  They won at every step of the game.  What are we talking about? Oh, not on the ice, but in the dressing room!

Back to the “Boys on the Bus” days of old, the Oilers bonded like Glen Anderson and his horses.  Like Taylor Hall and Nuge rocking sushi on a date.

Simply put, the Oilers epitomize what it is to be a team.  Crushing fine cold beverages and mowing down delicacies every week.

The Oilers held tryouts for a position that quite simply was never available.  Turbo tried out, and looked to hit it off with a spread of Montreal smoke meat, corned beef and all the trimmings, but management just couldn’t fit him in.  It was unfortunate, as the salary cap these days just limits players mobility when they have high price tags.

The dynamic duo of Walters and Hillock also felt the sting of the salary cap, moving these two willy vets for cheaper alternatives in Cody Jansma and Jesse Davis.  The Oilers however held onto the rights to Hillock and Walters for the Winter 2015-2016 season.  North Stars GM Chris Ashton made a naked plea in the shower for these two guys, and Oil management quickly gave in and got out of dodge.

Most surprising was the release of PHN legend Peter Tsang.  Tsang was sent packing without even a phone call, after openly claiming to do “the bare minimum” on his duties.  Clearly a strong message was sent that the Oilers take Food and Beverage duties as the MOST important.  It would be wise for Jansma and Davis to take note, as the leash just got a lot shorter.

We look forward to seeing what the changes bring to the OIlers, and will report back in after the first couple of games.
