The PHN Summer 2014 Playoffs are HERE!

The playoffs are HERE folks!

So you wanna know how they work? It is all here!

Two game total points series will start us off, with series based on the regular season final standings

1st – North Stars vs 6th – Capitals

2nd – Kings vs 5th – Flames

3rd – Oilers vs 6th – Canucks

Total points  win the series:  2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.

If the two teams are tied in points at the end of the two game total point series, we move to a shootout in which the opposing team selects the shooters.  3 shooter go, followed by  sudden death.  Players are selected by the other team until EVERYONE has shot once, then players are selected again with no repeats.

In terms of determining the  fourth spot from the three losing teams of the two game total series:

1. Most points

2. Regular season record (1-North Stars, 2-Kings, 3-Oilers, 4-Canucks, 5-Flames, 6-Capitals)

The TOILET BOWL will then feature the two teams who finish out of the semi-finals, with the TOILET BOWL now being awarded to the LOSING TEAM in the game!  If the game ends in a tie, the same rules for shootouts from the previous round applies.

The semi-finals will go as follows:

Rankings will be based on your regular season standings, with the top ranked team playing the lowest ranked team, and the others playing each other.  One game playoff with a tie game going into a 5 minute overtime with 4 on 4.  If no winner is decided after 5 minutes, then a 3 player shootout will go on immediately, with the same shootout rules applied as the previous round.

The Consolation and the Championship games will then be played, however, if there is a tie at the end of either game, sudden death play will continue 5 on 5 until a goal is scored!

Dude, I got suspended!

PENALTIES

Lastly, everyone’s penalty minutes will be reset to 0 for the start of the playoffs.  Please watch out, because if you hit 13 minutes in penalties, you will be AUTOMATICALLY SUSPENDED for 1 game.  YES, even your stupid high stick penalty, body checking, mouthing off to the ref, interference, tripping, etc… calls ALL COUNT! If 98% of the league can play clean and not get suspended because of too many penalties, don’t be in that 2% that just seems to ALWAYS get called!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND SEE YOU ON THE ICE!

The Commissioners
