PLAYOFF PENALTY WARNING AND SPARE POLICY – PLEASE READ!!!

Penalties – If you reach 12 minutes in penalties, you are done for the playoffs.  You are playing a 2 game series and a semi-finals game.  If you hit 12 minutes in 3 games, you won’t be playing in the Championship game.  No reason to get that many minutes in 2 or 3 games, period.

PHN PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

That INCLUDES TALKING TO THE REF… don’t do it.  Don’t ask him what his name is, don’t say hi, just shut up and play hockey.  Not sure how more direct we can be, YOU ARE NOT TO TALK TO THE REFEREES ABOUT CALLS…… if you don’t like a call, go complain to your buddy about how bad the world has done you harm, but don’t say a word to the referee!!!  You have been warned, so when you get 2 min for unsportsmanlike, or a double minor or 10 min misconduct for SAYING ANYTHING, even if it is a tone that is calm, you have been warned.  We will have ZERO leniency on this in the playoffs.

NEWSFLASH: NO REFEREE will change his call when you are blasting him about a call.  Also, when you are sitting in the box because you felt the need to blast a ref, hope you can explain to your teammates why you just cut their ice time and gave the other team a power play for nothing.

Sorry to dwell on this point, but ever week this happens and every week people keep complaining.

SPARE POLICY

THIS IS GOING TO BE EXTREMELY STRICT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. You may NOT spare unless you have 7 or less rostered skaters on your team.  If you have 8 skaters, enjoy the ice time!
2. Spares will ONLY BE C LEVEL spares.  Let me repeat that, C LEVEL SPARES.
3. CAPTAINS will be expected to report to the Commissioners a need for spares Friday before the game.  PLEASE help your Captains and let them know if you will or won’t be there.  We know emergencies happen, but anything planned didn’t just suddenly pop up on your calendar the day off or 2 hours before the game.  Help them out and let them know as far in advance as possible!
4. Spares MUST BE APPROVED by 3 COMMISSIONERS.  If there are not 3 Commissioners available for whatever reason, then the Commissioners may allow the two Captains to approve a spare.  BOTH CAPTAINS must approve the spare to play.  If the spare is a C player, there is no reason to not approve them.
5. Goalies – Any goalie in the PHN may spare for another team in the playoffs.  It is, however, up to the Commissioners to decide which goalie will spare, and NOT up to the Captain requesting.  They simply can request a goalie, and one will be given to them.
