SPARE and PENALTY POLICY

PHN,

SPARE POLICY

1.  All spares must be pre-approved by 3 Commissioners unless 3 are not available, then 1 may approve spares.

2.  Teams must let the Commissioners know by noon on Monday so that it gives the Commissioners time to get an approved spare.  Any request after noon on Monday may not be granted due to time restraints.

3.  Spares may only be granted if a team has LESS THAN 8 rostered skaters available, that means if you have 8 skaters, you are not entitled to spares.  You also may only spare UP TO 8 skaters.

4.  The only spares allowed are C rated spares.  Regardless of who you are missing, the intent of obtaining a spare is to ice a team, not to make your team equivalent to what you are missing.  It is your team’s issue for missing players, and therefore will not be entitled to bring your skill level up to where it was.  If you are below 8 skaters, you MUST spare to 8 players, it is not a choice.

5.  Contact the Commissioners as soon as possible, at commissioners@prohockeynetwork.com

PENALTY POLICY

1.  All penalty minutes are now reset to ZERO for the playoffs.

2.  Once you reach 14 minutes in penalties, you will be suspended for 1 game automatically.  Further suspension may be given at the sole discretion of the Commissioners.  If you hit 12 minutes in 3 games, you would average more than 4 minutes a game, which is inexcusable.  Watch your sticks, don’t hit, and this shouldn’t be an issue.  95% of the league never encounter an issue with penalty minutes, which says that anyone hitting this amount deserves what they get.  And NO, it isn’t the referees………

3.  Remember, if you skate into the BLUE crease, the play will be whistled down, and play goes outside.  If you feel the need to stick your stick in and hit the goalie, you will be rewarded with a penalty.  Make sure if you do, you get 100% of the puck, if you hit the goalie, we are penalizing you.  This isn’t the NHL, and no, we don’t need our goalies being slashed by you for the sake of a goal.

4.  You are NOT allowed to use your body to interfere with the path of a player, nor to bump them off the puck.  You will be penalized.

5.  The Commissioners WILL issue penalties even if the referees didn’t call it.  We also have video.  It is pretty priceless.

6.  If you have an issue, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT take it out on the refs.  You will be penalized.  Speak to your Captain and he will address it with the Commissioners.
