Suspensions handed down
This week, the Commissioners Office handed out the following suspensions following a review of the video evidence which was recorded during the game between the Flames and Canucks on Monday, July 21, 2014.
Donny Easterbrook of the Flames was suspended for 1 game for facemasking. This will be served this week (July 28, 2014).
Rob MacAlpine of the Canucks was suspended for 2 games. 1 game was automatic for reaching 20 minutes in penalties, while the other game was for multiple incidents, including bodychecking, highsticking and unsportsmanlike conduct. This will be served the week of July 28, 2014 and August 11, 2014 (no games are played August 4, 2014).
The PHN would like to remind everyone that at no time is body checking, facemasking and instigating acceptable. These will be punished and dealt with accordingly. If a situation occurs that you don’t agree with, please take this up AFTER the game with the league, not independently. We remind you that we are video taping most games, and that we will retro-actively discipline players for actions that occur during games, even if the referees do not see it.
Thanks,
The Commissioners
