Season extended, Playoff format set
Okay PHN’ers the news you’ve been waiting for is here!
We were able to get 2 of the 3 games back from the rink.
We’re not able to schedule the third game so unfortunately that one is gone.
Here’s what’s happening for the rest of the year.
REGULAR SEASON
We’re going to extend the regular seasons for a couple reasons:
1) We don’t have the capacity to create a new playoff format at this time
2) We’re hoping that we’ll have fewer COVID exposures and cases by rolling this out a bit longer.
Before we had 5 exposures and 2 cases come up this week we thought we should cruise right into playoffs.
We changed our mind.

Currently the Wendy’s and Stars are tied.
It is impossible for the Oilers to fall in the standings.
It is impossible for the Chiefs to move up.
The season extension has the tied teams each playing # 1 and # 4.
If they are still tied at the end of the season (same # of wins, same # of points), then the tie breaker for who gets second is as follows:
a) head to head winner and if that is an even split
b) lowest penalty minutes
So we just need to settle the middle by wins or PIM.
PLAYOFFS
Playoff round robin, starts with 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3.

No tie games for Round Robin:
If a round robin game ends in a tie, we go to a 4 minute sudden death OT at 3 on 3.
Changes only on the fly.
Then if it is still tied we move to a shoot out.
We do a minimum of three shooters pre team.
The captains must select their shooters and the order BEFORE the game in consultation with each other,
The round robin tie breaker if we have teams deadlocked is how you finished in the regular season.
This makes the regular season matter if there is not a clear outcome from the round robin.
